I have to admit, it cracked me up that the self-confessed nerd guy tried his hardest to refrain from 'jocks r stupid' jokes. But you're right - and if the players understand the physical application in a mostly subconscious, unarticulated way, it must be way frustrating trying to figure out the dynamics of the new ball.
But for the teams with big domestic leagues, I'd say their contracts with other sporting brands also play a huge role in gaining familiarity. XD
